Position Overview

The Street Outreach Program Counselor plays a vital role in providing outreach services to vulnerable youth, including those who are homeless, runaway, or at high risk. This position serves as a crucial link to essential services such as food, clothing, transportation, medical and dental care, housing, vocational training, and educational programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outreach services and counseling to at-risk street youth.
  • Design and execute outreach service plans tailored to the needs of homeless and runaway youth.
  • Establish and maintain connections with referral sources for essential services.
  • Document client activities and maintain accurate records for reporting purposes.
  • Act as a liaison with law enforcement and community social service providers.
  • Provide informal counseling and facilitate access to in-clinic counseling when necessary.
  • Supervise youth during designated drop-in hours to ensure a safe environment.
  • Arrange safe transportation for clients as needed.
  • Coordinate weekly community meals for youth.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow counselors and staff members.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's Degree in counseling, psychology, or social work. A minimum of two years of experience working with youth in a counseling or social work capacity is required. Candidates must demonstrate resourcefulness and adaptability while engaging with a diverse clientele. Strong relationship-building skills with high-risk youth and their families are essential.

Additionally, candidates must be capable of functioning within established guidelines while also exhibiting the ability to work independently in outreach settings. A valid driver's license and insurance are mandatory.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is competitive, with additional compensation for bilingual candidates. A comprehensive benefits package, including dental and vision coverage, is also provided.
