Job Overview

Under the guidance of the Chief Housekeeper, the Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for ensuring that a designated number of passenger cabins, crew quarters, communal spaces, and work areas are kept in pristine condition and maintained promptly. The goal is to provide these areas with necessary supplies, company materials, and amenities that will surpass the expectations of both passengers and crew members.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Introduce yourself to passengers and outline the services you will provide throughout their journey.
  2. Learn and use passenger names in daily interactions to foster a welcoming atmosphere.
  3. Maintain safe and hygienic conditions at all times, adhering to all relevant guidelines.
  4. Thoroughly clean passenger and crew cabins daily, including any private balconies.
  5. Report maintenance issues found in assigned cabins or public areas on a daily basis.
  6. Efficiently stock and manage cleaning carts as per instructions.
  7. Ensure designated information and amenities are placed in passenger cabins.
  8. Stay informed about cruise events and programs to assist passengers with inquiries.
  9. Help in the removal of room service items from passenger cabins to appropriate locations.
  10. Assist in managing inventory of linens and toiletries, ensuring proper storage of used items.
  11. Clean hallways, carpets, and change light bulbs in assigned areas as directed.
  12. Support fellow crew members in their duties to achieve overall service excellence.
  13. Maintain professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with passengers and colleagues.
  14. Participate in monthly inventory checks as assigned.
  15. May assist in other areas of the housekeeping department as needed.
  16. Attend all meetings scheduled by the Chief Housekeeper or senior management.
  17. Read and adhere to all company memos and directives.
  18. Participate in all mandated drills and emergency procedures as directed.
  19. Perform additional duties as required, as the tasks listed may not encompass all responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.

Certifications:

Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) if applicable, and/or ability to obtain and maintain.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to interact with individuals at all levels in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Capable of independently planning, organizing, and completing work assignments.
  • Must maintain a neat and professional appearance.

Experience:

At least two to four years of experience in a similar role is required. Experience in the cruise industry is preferred.

Other Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated.
