Job Summary

The Data Center Electrical Specialist is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of electrical systems within the data center. This role involves a range of activities, including inspecting infrastructure systems, performing routine maintenance, supervising the facility, and completing repairs as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and troubleshoot building infrastructure systems, including server containers, cooling equipment, HVAC, electrical, and other systems.
  • Install and maintain door access controls and security cameras to ensure a secure environment.
  • Follow established protocols and procedures for setting up equipment to ensure efficient and effective operation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all building equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Assemble and commission data center equipment to ensure it is properly installed and functioning as expected.
  • Prepare change management forms to document changes and updates to equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and use of protective equipment to prevent injuries and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, such as fires, evacuations, and equipment failures.
  • Relay reported anomalies to prevent issues and ensure service quality.
  • Make suggestions for improvements to equipment and/or processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience working with critical data center infrastructure, with strong electrical skills and experience.
  • Trade electrical license or certification acquired through education/training preferred.
  • Facilities maintenance certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of hardware and servers.
  • Knowledge of the data center environment, including network, electrical, filtration, air conditioning, water cooling, and other systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on-call at least one weekend day each week, and unscheduled overtime as needed to complete projects or break-fixes.
  • Ability to work in an active environment, perform inspections, and lift heavy objects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, perform inspections, lift heavy objects, and perform work outdoors, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Detail-oriented, motivated, and flexible.
