Position Overview

Location: Boise

Kittelson & Associates is actively seeking a skilled transportation/civil design engineer to join our Boise office, focusing on roadway and traffic engineering as well as bicycle and pedestrian initiatives, from initial concept to comprehensive design support.

Position Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the principal engineer to refine and enhance your design capabilities. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating detailed construction drawings
  • Leading and supporting planning studies, corridor assessments, project permitting, and the production of preliminary and final design plans
  • Evaluating intersection configurations and control strategies (including roundabouts and alternative designs) while conceptualizing solutions for roadways, highways, multimodal corridors, and interchanges

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of civil engineering experience, with a focus on three-dimensional roadway, intersection, and interchange design
  • Proven experience in design elements related to traffic signals, roundabouts, service interchanges, bicycle/pedestrian projects, signage and striping, and construction traffic control plans
  • Experience in the preparation and development of construction documents and supporting reports, plans, quantities, and estimates, adhering to highway design manuals, NCHRP guidelines, AASHTO policies, MUTCD, and local design criteria
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Idaho or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of employment
  • Experience in managing internal tasks and training junior staff on project components
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D, AutoCAD, and/or Microstation, InRoads, Open Roads Designer

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in roundabout planning, operations, and design
  • Familiarity with local and national roadway design guidelines, including AASHTO Green Book and Roadside Design Manual
  • Experience producing construction documents for various local agencies in accordance with ISPWC and respective agency standards
  • Experience in multimodal facility planning and design documentation

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000, based on the candidate's experience. We also offer a performance bonus program that recognizes individual contributions to our collective goals.
