Role Overview: You will collaborate closely with our Chief Science Officer, advancing our initiatives to identify and quantify various compounds present in breath and other biological samples.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methodologies utilizing LC-MS, SESI-HRMS, and alternative sample delivery techniques to identify and quantify both metabolic and exogenous compounds.
  • Design and execute bench-scale experiments involving multiple variables for small molecule compounds.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with colleagues in the R&D team and across the organization.

Candidate Profile: We seek a proficient researcher to enhance our expanding team of scientists and engineers.


Ideal Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to individuals with limited knowledge of mass spectrometry and metabolomics.
  • Strong laboratory documentation skills.
  • Willingness to mentor junior team members.
  • Proactive in sharing ideas, addressing concerns, and proposing solutions during team interactions.
  • Adaptability to the dynamic priorities typical of a startup environment.

Required Skills and Experience:
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with the Thermo Scientific Q-exactive platform, including data analysis using both proprietary and open-source software.
  • Familiarity with Fossilion Tech SESI devices.
  • Expertise in untargeted and targeted metabolomics and lipidomics data processing, statistical analysis, and interpretation.
  • Capability to conduct LC-MS experiments independently.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation hardware and software.
  • 5+ years of laboratory experience (academic and/or industrial) in developing analytical methods for small molecule analysis (LC, MS, GC).
  • Proficiency in Python-based analysis tools is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and creativity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse and dynamic team.
  • Experience in a startup environment is a plus.
