Opportunity Overview:

We are excited to present a unique opportunity within our Tampa, Florida office, where you will deliver exceptional wastewater engineering services to municipal clients across the region and beyond. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, growth-oriented professional capable of leading and expanding the South Region Wastewater Team, as well as multi-disciplinary project teams through all phases from concept to final design, construction, and operational start-up. You will have the chance to mentor staff and support clients, with the backing of engineers and our integrated operations and SCADA team to enhance project outcomes. Your role will also involve active participation in our continuous improvement initiatives and learning opportunities.

Candidate Profile:

The successful applicant will primarily oversee and contribute to engineering efforts on municipal wastewater projects, while experience in drinking water, stormwater, and industrial wastewater applications is considered advantageous. This position offers the chance to lead and collaborate with junior staff members. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience as a Senior Project or Technical Manager, particularly in the study, planning, and design of wastewater systems, with a comprehensive understanding of master planning, treatment, and collection/distribution issues in water or wastewater systems. Familiarity with local regulatory frameworks is essential, and the candidate should also be prepared to assist with marketing and proposal efforts as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the senior technical authority for projects of varying sizes, overseeing all technical tasks associated with each project.
  • Lead and develop the South Region Wastewater Team and multi-disciplinary project teams throughout all project phases, including concept, design, construction, and facility operations.
  • Assist the Project Manager in managing the financial and technical aspects of project tasks, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Define the technical strategy for specific project tasks.
  • Prepare and present findings to internal and external clients, as well as professional societies, and engage in committees and leadership roles within relevant professional organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Team to pursue new project opportunities, contributing to the development of project approaches and scopes, and providing budget input.
  • Contribute to the creation of Woodard & Curran's design or technical guidelines and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Over 20 years of experience in evaluating, planning, designing, and constructing wastewater engineering projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Extensive technical and project management expertise in civil and environmental engineering, with a deep understanding of engineering principles related to municipal wastewater systems, including collection infrastructure and treatment processes.
  • Experience as the lead technical engineer for at least five wastewater treatment facility designs (new or expansions).
  • Recognized as an expert in Florida.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Florida (or eligibility to apply for reciprocity within six months of hire).
  • Current knowledge of technological advancements, regulatory trends, equipment, and processes.
  • Ability to support and/or lead strategic initiatives aimed at developing and expanding business opportunities with new clients and in new regions.
  • Familiarity with state and local regulations concerning wastewater treatment and collection systems.
  • Knowledge of Florida bidding laws and SRF programs.
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and training team members.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $140,000 and $180,000 annually, with the potential for remote work. Compensation may vary based on factors such as the employee's primary work location, skills, experience, and education.
