Job Summary

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Director of the Division of Training, Workforce Development, and Diversity. This exciting opportunity is part of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), a major research component of the NIH.

The Director will play a key role in shaping the future of biomedical research by developing and implementing strategic plans to foster a diverse and talented workforce. This includes overseeing programs that support research training, student development, and career development activities from the undergraduate level to the doctorate and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to promote diversity and inclusion in biomedical research
  • Oversee programs that support research training, student development, and career development activities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to advance the NIGMS mission and goals
  • Supervise a staff of program officers and provide leadership and guidance
  • Participate in and advise on HHS- and NIH-wide activities and collaborations
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in health or allied sciences
  • Research experience and management experience
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to engage stakeholders
  • Recognized research management and leadership abilities
Benefits

The Director will be appointed at a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. A recruitment or relocation bonus may be available, and relocation expenses may be paid. Full Federal benefits, including leave, health and life insurance, retirement, and savings plan (401K equivalent), will be provided.
