Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Director to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our laboratory, ensuring that all activities are in compliance with organizational goals and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement laboratory policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the management of laboratory personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and manage laboratory budgets, including capital and operating expenses.
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment is functioning properly and that personnel are educated on proper techniques of operation.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Medical Director and System Director of Laboratory Services to ensure that laboratory operations are aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies such as CAP, AABB, CLIA, JCAHO, OSHA, etc.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for laboratory operations, including personnel management, quality control, and safety.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to laboratory personnel as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical laboratory experience in moderate/high complexity testing for the specific section/area of responsibility preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Certification for MLS, MLT, MT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
