Job Summary

College of the Canyons is seeking a highly qualified Noncredit Instructor for Addiction and Substance Abuse to join our team. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching noncredit courses in Addiction and Substance Abuse to students at our Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach noncredit courses in Addiction and Substance Abuse to students at our Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide activities, such as curriculum development and professional development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
Requirements
  • Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in the appropriate discipline.
  • OR - Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or sociology.
  • OR - Bachelor's degree and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.
  • OR - Associate degree and six years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught.
  • OR - Bachelor's or Associate degree in Addiction Paraprofessional Training.
  • OR - Bachelor's degree in health science, health education, biology, nursing, dietetics, or nutrition; or an associate degree in any of those subjects, and four years of professional experience related to the subject of the course taught.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience teaching content related to Addiction and Substance Abuse.
Working Conditions

Must be available to teach Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. onsite at the assigned location(s).

Salary and Benefits

Adjunct Noncredit Salary Schedule 8 Rate: Starting at $54.95 per hour.
