Job Opportunity: Director of MRI Center

Job Summary: San Diego State University invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the associate to full professor level, also serving as Director of SDSU's MRI Center. The successful candidate will provide strategic vision in maintaining, directing, and growing a state-of-the-art imaging program for basic and translational research, and facilitate services provided to the SDSU imaging community.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and maintain a state-of-the-art imaging program for basic and translational research
  • Facilitate services provided to the SDSU imaging community
  • Maintain research excellence and develop an independent, externally-funded program of research
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses
  • Mentor students

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in neuroscience, psychology, MR/medical physics, biomedical imaging, or related fields
  • Strong research record, technical skills relevant to MRI applications, and previous research leadership experience transferable to directing an MRI facility
  • Ability to promote collaborative research links, a commitment to the teacher-scholar model, and research/teaching interests integrating issues of culture and human diversity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in human brain imaging
  • Experience with directing an imaging center
  • Strong managerial skills
