Smith Chason College is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to join our team as an MRI Faculty member. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students and contributing to the college's mission of providing quality education in medical imaging and nursing degree and diploma programs.

Job Summary

The MRI Program Clinical Coordinator is responsible for coordinating clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the Smith Chason MRI Program Director. The Clinical Coordinator must evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of the clinical affiliate/clinical education centers. Responsibilities include coordination, instruction, and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage students as full partners in the learning process, removing barriers to progression in the MRI program, and supporting their educational goals.
  • Use teaching methodologies that incorporate MRI concepts, promoting a positive and interactive learning environment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in the healthcare industry related to MRI and assist the program director in creating and modifying courses to stay current with new regulations.
  • Actively participate in academic advising and collaborate with academic success coaches to support student resources.
  • Coordinate clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the program director and ensure the effectiveness of clinical affiliate/clinical education centers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of clinical sites and determine clinical placements and student schedules each quarter.
  • Travel to clinical externship sites to meet with instructors and students, reviewing learning progress and competencies.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of proficiency exams and maintain department equipment, supplies, and resources.
  • Maintain accurate records, submit timely reports, and keep the program director informed of departmental matters.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations, maintain current industry licensure and credentials, and complete annual staff development requirements.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must have at least two years of full-time experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. Full-time is defined as 35 hours per week.
  • Current industry certification(s) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • Must be willing to travel to clinical externship sites to meet with clinical instructors and students to review learning progress and competencies, at least twice per quarter per student.
  • May be required to teach at any college location. Some in-state or out-of-state travel related to discipline-specific training is required.
  • Must have completed coursework in instructional methodologies, evaluation, and assessment, with proficiency in curriculum development.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in a Health Science field.
  • Post-secondary level teaching experience.
  • Strong knowledge of MRI Instruments.
