POSITION: Medical Practitioner

WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday (excluding Federal holidays), between 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a US CITIZEN. We do not sponsor HB visas.
  • Must hold a valid medical license and provide proof of credentials (education, current licensure/status competency, continuing medical education).
  • Documentation must accompany your resume indicating relevant experience, including names and contact numbers for verification.
  • Ability to work with a diverse inmate population from various cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills and interpersonal relationship skills are essential for effective collaboration with medical staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES: All responsibilities will be executed in accordance with the accepted standards and methods within the field of Medical Services, adhering to all Federal and State policies and regulations.

  • Deliver diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services for the inmate population.
  • Conduct medical assessments, examine patients, and order/interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Formulate diagnoses, create treatment plans, and prescribe medications.
  • Manage injuries through suturing, splinting, and immobilization.
  • Respond to medical emergencies as required.
  • Perform daily rounds in the In-Patient Short Stay Unit and document findings in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Record progress notes, recommend necessary outside consultations, and provide instructions or therapy.
  • Emergency consultations may be performed as necessary, including minor surgeries with local anesthesia.
  • Communicate with external hospitals to monitor the status of inmates admitted for treatment.
  • Conduct 14-day Chronic Care Clinic assessments to ensure compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Collaborate with staff physicians and consulting physicians in planning, implementing, evaluating, and revising healthcare programs.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Chronic Care Clinic and may conduct sick calls, which include gathering health histories and providing clinical evaluations.
  • Provide a broad range of emergency services, including primary care for trauma and life-saving interventions.
  • Render services as a certified Medical Practitioner, with ongoing patient management being the responsibility of the Clinical Director.
  • Advise the Clinical Director on the medical treatment of inmates.
