Position Overview:


The Intermediate Care (IMC) unit at Norman Regional Health System specializes in providing care for patients with intricate medical needs that necessitate intermediate or critical attention.

As an accredited primary stroke center, our IMC serves as the dedicated stroke unit within the health system.

Our nursing team has received numerous accolades, including the Women's Choice Award and the American Heart Association/Get with the Guidelines award, reflecting our commitment to excellence in patient care.

IMC nurses are adept critical thinkers, skilled in swiftly evaluating patient conditions and delivering prompt interventions. Common medication drips managed include Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone.

In our IMC, the charge nurse typically does not carry a full patient load, serving as a valuable resource for both our staff and other units.


Key Responsibilities:
Essential functions for RNs encompass, but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals
- Conducting thorough assessments and analyzing assessment data
- Establishing patient care goals and planning care strategies
- Prioritizing care and implementing nursing interventions
- Delegating tasks safely and providing both direct and indirect nursing care
- Evaluating patient responses to interventions
- Performing additional nursing functions in line with advanced knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing education.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training is required during orientation prior to patient care.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training must be completed within 6 months of hire.
- All certifications must be maintained through ongoing training throughout employment. These classes and certifications are provided at NRHS.

Additional Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- New graduates are required to complete the Vizient/AACN Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program to facilitate a smooth transition from academic training to professional nursing practice.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $27.84-$45.46/hr based on prior work experience.

Shift Differentials:
- $2.50/hr for evening shifts, $3.00/hr for overnight shifts, and $3.00/hr for weekend shifts.
