Job Title: ISD Deputy Director, Operations

Join the City of Eugene, OR as a Deputy Director of Operations and Technology, where you will play a critical role in leading the Information Services Division. As a key member of the executive team, you will be responsible for managing and directing daily operations, supervising a team of IT professionals, and collaborating with the Director to develop strategic enhancements to the technology portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee network/system/security architecture components, goals, best practices, and frameworks.
  • Direct and supervise a staff of IT professionals and assist the Director in managing IT functions and delivering IT services to city users and customers.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards, and manage customer support and technical services support models.
  • Recruit, interview, and select qualified staff, administer personnel actions, and enforce personnel policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and identify and facilitate training and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the multi-year financial plan and assist in preparing, monitoring, and administering the annual budget for the department.
Requirements:
  • 6 years of professional experience in technology administration and management, public administration, and research, including 3 years of supervisory or program management experience with a team of 3 or more direct reports.
  • Experience working for a government agency is preferred, with experience in government technology and knowledge of PCI, HIPAA, and CJIS compliance standards also preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a permanent, valid Oregon license, and ability to obtain ITIL version 3 or 4 certification, CJIS level 2 certification, and other professional certifications as required.
