Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at Sorenson Communications. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a critical role in facilitating communication between Deaf and hearing individuals through our Video Relay Service (VRS).

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have excellent interpreting skills, a strong understanding of American Sign Language (ASL), and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. If you are passionate about communication access and have a strong commitment to providing high-quality interpreting services, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:
  • Effectively interpret between ASL and spoken English
  • Maintain compliance with national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements
  • Demonstrate full compliance with Sorenson standards and policies, FCC regulations, and the RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Accurately complete assigned tasks, projects, and paperwork promptly and within approved guidelines
  • Work effectively in a team environment and receive support from and provide support to colleagues
Requirements:
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in ASL: Ability to pass our required skills assessment, high school diploma or GED, associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred), interpreter certification, 3 years' experience working as an interpreter (preferred)
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues, work in a fast-paced, dynamic, highly regulated environment, and possess the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies
