Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter Community Position

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at Sorenson Communications. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between Deaf and hearing individuals in our community.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have excellent interpreting skills, a strong understanding of American Sign Language (ASL), and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for interpreting between ASL and spoken English, as well as providing excellent customer service to our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Interpret between ASL and spoken English in a variety of settings, including community events, meetings, and one-on-one interactions.
  • Provide high-quality interpreting services that meet the needs of our clients.
  • Work effectively in a team environment, receiving support from and providing support to colleagues.
  • Enhance interpreting skills through continuing education and training.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the various interpreting needs in the community setting.
Requirements:
  • Excellent interpreting skills in ASL and spoken English.
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and community.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
