Position Overview

Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital Outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation operates across multiple outpatient facilities, delivering comprehensive rehabilitative services for children from infancy to 21 years old, addressing a variety of diagnoses and conditions. Our dedicated pediatric rehabilitation team thrives in a collaborative, dynamic, and patient-focused setting, aiming to help children reach their fullest potential.

Role Summary

Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has been committed to providing exceptional care to the youth of Central Florida for over 25 years. Our team, comprised of skilled doctors, specialists, and caregivers, offers a wide array of advanced pediatric services tailored specifically for children.

(Shift: Pool)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients, collecting information from the patient, healthcare providers, interdisciplinary team meetings when available, family members, and other relevant sources.
  • Design and implement treatment plans that align with the continuum of care, establishing clear goals and objectives. Exhibit the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver age-appropriate care for the assigned patient caseload.
  • Assess and interpret data reflective of the patient's condition, identifying their specific needs relative to their age, and providing care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and safety of profession-specific equipment, providing clear explanations regarding its use and purpose.
  • Regularly re-evaluate and adjust treatment plans and objectives as necessary, ensuring comprehensive documentation as required by the department and care team.
  • Recognize and communicate when patients have achieved optimal outcomes from speech therapy.
  • Ensure accurate billing practices are followed.
  • Adhere to the State Practice Act and established Standards of Practice.
  • Maintain consistent and punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Comply with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Engage in Performance Improvement initiatives, program development, student supervision, and assigned committees, including safety and infection control, as required.
  • Maintain awareness of legal considerations, patient rights, and compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Participate in rehabilitation meetings, in-services, and any required patient care meetings.
  • Utilize supplies and equipment efficiently, providing guidance to support personnel as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Training

Master's degree in speech/language pathology from an accredited program.

Licensure and Certification

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence or active engagement in and successful completion of Clinical Fellowship Year requirements.
  • Current licensure in the State of Florida.
  • Maintain current BLS/HealthCare Provider Certification.

Experience

Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in outpatient pediatric settings.
