About the Role

At CommonSpirit Health, we are committed to delivering high-quality patient care and advancing the field of clinical laboratory science. We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize independent judgment to test patient samples through various chemical, microscopic, serological, and bacteriologic techniques.
  • Assist management in maintaining appropriate policies, procedures, and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain automated analyzers, ensuring an adequate inventory of departmental supplies.
  • Monitor quality control, quality assurance, and performance improvement indicators in the section of primary responsibility.
  • Conduct orientation and training of new personnel, monitoring performance in the section of primary responsibility.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth by maintaining knowledge of lab-specific policies and procedures and taking advantage of available educational opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested in a professional manner.
Qualifications
  • Recent clinical laboratory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences.
  • Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license (must possess valid CA CLS license prior to start date of position).
  • Preferred requirements: experience in an acute care hospital, advanced degree in a related field, registration with a national professional organization (AABB, ASCP, NCA), and knowledge of medical terminology.
