Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a seasoned structural engineer to enhance our Water group. We are looking for professionals at various levels of expertise. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design of structures associated with water bodies (locks, dams, water control gates, moorings, etc.).
  • Lead the preparation of bid documentation (plans, specifications, and cost estimates).
  • Contribute to the design efforts for project proposals.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers.
  • Review, edit, and compose technical reports.
  • Review, edit, and create technical specifications.
  • Establish design criteria for various projects.
  • Supervise drafting teams in the creation of design drawings.
  • Engage in the design of steel, concrete, prestressed concrete, and timber structures.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control by verifying design methodologies, calculations, and results.
  • Lead field inspections and surveys to support design and construction efforts.
  • Develop alternative design solutions.
  • Assist project managers and leaders in preparing proposals, client information, and designs as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering; candidates with more experience will be considered for advanced roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of concrete and steel structure design.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and their application to non-standard structures.
  • Proficient in structural engineering modeling software.
  • A commitment to working on a variety of structure types.
  • A collaborative spirit to learn from and mentor others.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation) is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience with US Army Corps of Engineers projects or knowledge of Corps design guidelines is a plus.
