We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our Water Discipline team at Colliers Engineering & Design. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design effort for structures on or near the water, including locks, dams, water control gates, and moorings.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design effort for water-related structures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Direct the development of bid documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Develop or provide input on design efforts for proposals, ensuring alignment with client needs and project goals.
- Mentor junior staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and development.
- Review and edit technical reports, specifications, and other documentation to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Develop design criteria for projects, considering factors such as safety, functionality, and sustainability.
- Oversee teams of drafters to prepare design drawings, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Perform QA/QC, verifying design methodology, calculations, and outcomes to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Lead field inspections and surveys to support design and construction efforts.
- Develop design alternatives, considering factors such as cost, schedule, and technical feasibility.
- Assist project managers and leaders as needed, providing input on proposals, client information, and designs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Professional engineer licensure.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with a strong background in concrete and steel structure design.
- Advanced knowledge of structural engineering principles and their application to non-standard structures.
- Advanced knowledge of structural engineering modeling software.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and CAD (AutoCAD, MicroStation) skills are a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with US Army Corps of Engineers projects or design guidelines is a plus.
