Job Overview

Position Summary

My After School Program is a vibrant organization dedicated to fostering a positive and engaging environment for children. We are in search of exceptional individuals to become integral members of our enthusiastic After School Program team. Ideal candidates are those who are energetic, imaginative, reliable, and possess a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

Work Schedule

Hours of employment are Monday through Friday, from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Compensation

Pay ranges from $15 to $28 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, and certifications.

Key Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, the Educator will design, organize, and oversee activities while supervising children in the afterschool program for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. The role requires maintaining a professional rapport with school administration, parents, students, team members, and school staff. The Educator should embody a collaborative spirit, focusing on the best interests of the children and the program.

  • Develop, prepare, and execute age-appropriate lessons and activities.
  • Assist children with homework and assignments, including reading, writing, and math.
  • Prepare educational materials and supplies, such as books, arts and crafts, and stationery.
  • Oversee daily lesson plans and activities aimed at enhancing children's social and motor skills.
  • Engage with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation.
  • Communicate with parents regarding children's performance through regular reports.
  • Foster a safe and supportive learning environment for children.
  • Maintain an organized and clean learning space, ensuring appropriate student behavior.
  • Promote discipline and adherence to program guidelines.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere for students upon their arrival.
  • Encourage high standards for academic achievement and behavior.
  • Teach age-appropriate skills to support academic and social-emotional development.
  • Serve as a role model, demonstrating encouragement, fair play, and skill development.
  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to develop enrichment activity plans.
  • Address parent and student concerns in coordination with the Director.
  • Manage student interactions and resolve conflicts as needed.
  • Design plans for students with special needs to ensure their success.
  • Implement safety procedures to comply with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills to relate effectively with parents, teachers, students, and staff.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and flexibility as a team member.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with school-age children.
  • Experience in planning age-appropriate activities.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to create a fun and safe learning environment.
  • Solid understanding of child behavior and learning styles.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and orderly classroom.
  • Passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • Accountability and reliability in all responsibilities.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit students' varying levels of understanding.
