Position Title:
Recreation Therapist (NY HELPS)

Role Overview:
The Recreation Therapist is tasked with the design, implementation, and oversight of recreational programs. Responsibilities encompass facilitating individualized activities, promoting community engagement, managing recreational resources, and ensuring consistent communication with designated recreation representatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development of personalized recreation schedules
  • Conduct in-home group activities for individuals not participating in day programs
  • Organize community engagement and in-home recreational events
  • Support larger community integration initiatives
  • Aid in the preparation of monthly activity and community event documentation
  • Engage in training and events related to Special Olympics
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, Physical Education, or Adaptive Physical Education, along with pertinent experience or certifications in therapeutic recreation.
