Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant is tasked with ensuring a prompt monthly general ledger (GL) close, preparing schedules, journal entries, reconciliations, SEC reporting support, regulatory reporting, and ensuring all financial transactions are documented in compliance with GAAP and SEC regulatory standards, as well as established internal controls.
This role also collaborates with the management team to enhance and streamline accounting processes, providing insights on minimizing risk and exposure to the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare complex general ledger account reconciliations, such as investments, equity, intercompany, etc., on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis, ensuring timely completion and appropriate supporting documentation.
Support month-end and year-end financial closing and reporting activities.
Engage in various accounting functions including, but not limited to: loan and deposit reconciliations, investments, equity accounting, lease accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accrued expenses.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of federal, state, and local tax filings.Assist in analyzing transactions to determine the correct accounting treatment and ensure financial reports are prepared in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements.
Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal banking regulations. Monitor adherence to financial standards and regulations, including finance-related Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.Participate in and/or lead special projects as assigned, which may include GAAP research, analysis, and implementation into all Accounting Department processes.
Assist in producing accounting department information and reports to guarantee that relevant and accurate information is available to management, regulatory agencies, independent auditors, and other stakeholders in a timely manner.
Support internal and external audit engagements and examinations, as well as internal control testing and various accounting issues.Contribute to the strategic and business planning process as needed.
Maintain proficient knowledge of, and ensure compliance with, all state and federal banking laws and regulations applicable to assigned responsibilities.
Ensure that organizational activities comply with the Bank's Policies and Standards, in collaboration with Enterprise Risk Management and other internal banking partners.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with a focus on Accounting, or a related field - required.
4+ years of recent experience in a similar accounting position required.
Experience in the banking industry and familiarity with banking regulatory reports preferred.
Understanding of loan accounting and related functions preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
Candidates currently pursuing either certification will be considered based on experience. Equivalent combinations of education, experience, and training may be considered.

Have a solid understanding of federal, state, and local taxes – preferred.
Thoroughly understand and apply principles, procedures, compliance requirements, state/federal regulations, and policies related to assigned areas.
Exhibit unquestionable integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information.
Demonstrate proficient use and understanding of MS Office products (Word, Outlook, and advanced MS Excel skills including spreadsheets, vlookups, pivot tables, and database queries), with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
Have working knowledge and experience with Fiserv Prologue financial suite or other ERP systems – preferred.Work Environment:

Work may involve continuous use of computer screens, reading reports, and sitting for extended periods.
