Key Responsibilities:

General Duties

  • Participate in departmental or organizational meetings as required.
  • Exhibit sound judgment by addressing any questionable findings or concerns appropriately.

  • Complete mandatory annual training programs.

  • Follow established safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment, reporting any potential hazards to supervisors.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Complete electronic medical record (EMR) intake at the time of service.
  • Guide patients to examination rooms.
  • Review history and physical (H&P) documents for new patients or new issues prior to physician consultation.
  • Provide medical assistance as required, including casting, suture removal, injections, and prescription documentation.
  • Instruct patients regarding cast-related concerns.
  • Assist with requests for physical therapy, work absence documentation, and school notes.
  • Assign appropriate coding for procedures performed and diagnoses made by the physician, documenting on the encounter form.
  • Review encounter forms for accuracy and completeness of coding, ensuring all procedures and supplies are noted.
  • Manage and respond to medical inquiries and prescription requests from patients, documenting in patient records.
  • Facilitate communication between physicians and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations regarding biohazardous waste disposal.
  • Order medical supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with filing medical records when required.
  • Dispose of expired medications appropriately.
  • Coordinate scheduling for outpatient tests and pre-certifications for various imaging and diagnostic procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinic workspaces for upcoming appointments.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Travel to satellite locations as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling outpatient tests and pre-certifications.

Other Responsibilities

  • Obtain readings for MRIs and X-rays for physician review and diagnosis.
  • Communicate with ancillary services to coordinate follow-up care and ensure effective communication among all parties.
  • Develop streamlined processes for patient communication following physician review.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the ability to frequently hear and communicate verbally, see both near and far, read and comprehend written materials, and perform physical activities such as standing, sitting, walking, reaching, and handling materials.
