Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant professional plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our team of orthopedic specialists at Ortho Sport and Spine Physicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records.
  • Administer medications as directed by a physician and explain treatment procedures to patients.
  • Properly dispose of waste materials in Biohazard or SHARPS containers.
  • Organize and prioritize work with the provider and Facilities Manager.
  • Inventory medical supplies and equipment.
  • Perform administrative clerical work in medical settings.
  • Maintain inventory of medications for patients and procedure areas.
  • Operate x-ray or other equipment for routine diagnostic testing.
  • Clean and sterilize medical equipment, adhering to sterile technique principles.
  • Prepare pre-screening for procedures and surgical consults.
  • Fits and instructs patients on proper use of DME.
  • Perform audits as needed on related tasks.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required; Medical Assistant Certification or Registered Medical Assistant strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and external parties.
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, sitting for extended periods, and using hands to handle objects. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Repetitive motion of the upper body is required for extended use of a computer.
