About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated professional to create and develop programming for children staying with their parents in our domestic violence shelter. As a Child Development Specialist, you will design activities that foster emotional growth, educational development, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new programming and expand upon existing initiatives, focusing on children who have experienced trauma and/or witnessed abuse.
  • Create engaging activities that promote hands-on learning, play therapy, and community connections.
  • Facilitate support groups for children and parents, providing a safe space for empowerment and connection.
  • Conduct parent interviews to understand individual needs and circumstances.
  • Attend case management meetings to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Child Development or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in child development, education, or a related field, with expertise in creating engaging activities.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Michigan driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

We offer a competitive salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.
