Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Technical Discussions: Oversee the development of highway designs for the team, ensuring high standards of work product and quality control.
  • Project Team Leadership: Lead project teams in meetings, present specific aspects of highway design, and provide design support on multiple projects.
  • Design Management: Maintain high standards of work product, provide quality control for peers, and interact with clients, customers, agency representatives, and contractors.
  • Schedule and Budget Management: Assist the project manager with schedule and budget requirements, ensuring timely completion and cost-effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Registration: Registration as a P.E. in the State of Virginia is desirable.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in highway engineering design, with a strong technical design background in highway design and familiarity with VDOT, AASHTO, FHWA, and MUTCD standards.
  • Skills: Strong technical design skills, written and oral communication skills, and knowledge of CADD/Design Software (MicroStation, InRoads, Geopak, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil3D).
