Acute Inpatient Registered Nurse

The Inpatient Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in accordance with company policies and procedures, including FMCNA compliance programs and contracted hospitals' policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Provides direct patient care in multiple modalities, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapies, ultrafiltration, and apheresis.
- Supervises and directs Patient Care Technicians and clerical staff, and provides education to ICU staff for CRRT.
- Assesses patients' responses to treatment therapy and makes adjustments to the treatment plan as indicated by the appropriately credentialed physician.
- Communicates effectively with patients, hospital staff, and physicians to ensure continuity of care.
- Initiates and communicates with FMS facility nursing staff and appropriate hospital personnel as needed.
- Cleans and disinfects dialysis machine surfaces, chairs, equipment, and surrounding areas between treatments.
- Performs all required pre-treatment dialysis machine alarm testing and operates all related equipment appropriately and safely.
- Current appropriate state licensure.
- Maintains acquired knowledge and remains current in advancements in nephrology, particularly relative to inpatient care.
- Minimum 6 months nephrology experience required before working independently with no other Dialysis RNs to provide dialysis and ultrafiltration services.
- Minimum 6 months Nephrology experience required before working independently with no other Apheresis RNs to provide Apheresis services.
- Demonstrated strong assessment skills related to the critically ill patient.
- ICU experience preferred but not required.
The Inpatient Registered Nurse works in a fast-paced environment, providing direct patient care and interacting with patients, hospital staff, and physicians. The position requires travel between assigned hospitals and facilities, as well as travel to regional meetings and educational events. The nurse may be required to work on call, including night, day, weekend, and holiday shifts.
