Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Grounds Laborer to join our team at Colonial Downs + Rosie's Gaming Emporium. As a Grounds Laborer, you will be responsible for performing routine grounds maintenance tasks, including trimming, watering, raking, moving, weeding, planting, and trash/litter removal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Irrigation and Landscaping
    • Irrigate landscaped areas as needed to maintain a visually appealing and healthy environment.
    • Replant landscaped areas as needed to ensure a lush and vibrant appearance.
  • Trash and Litter Removal
    • Pick up and dispose of litter in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Grounds Maintenance
    • Trim weeds around walks, flowerbeds, and walks using appropriate hand tools.
    • Perform hand-weeding activities to maintain a weed-free environment.
    • Lay sod as appropriate to the requirements of the facility.
    • Trim trees and bushes to maintain a well-manicured appearance.
  • Facilities Maintenance
    • Assist with small construction tasks such as excavating and handling and/or transportation of equipment and materials.
  • Equipment Maintenance
    • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
    • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Teamwork and Communication
    • Contribute to a team effort and accomplish related results as required.
Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities
  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
  • Obtain and retain required licenses.
  • Perform duties in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member's department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property's programs to address problem gaming.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.
Requirements
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • One (1) previous work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Virginia Racing Commission License.
  • Valid Driver's License with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience.
