Job Summary

Metals USA is seeking a skilled Yard Truck Driver/Material Handler to join our team in the Waggaman, LA Facility. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for the storage and movement of inventory or equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive, place, and return items into stock inventory locations.
  • Tag materials for proper identification and pull customer orders in order of delivery.
  • Operate yard trucks, cranes, and forklifts to load and unload trailers.
  • Secure loaded material onto trucks and maintain work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
  • Complete and document production and quality paperwork, following shop system data collection procedures.
  • Perform tasks that include grinding and using an oxy fuel torch.
  • Notify management of product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, and personal injuries.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to comprehend oral and written communication.
  • Proficient measuring skills and the ability to read measuring tapes, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and documents, blueprints.
  • Industrial warehouse experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Heavy Equipment preferred.
  • Overhead Crane/forklift experience required.
  • Valid OSHA Forklift Certification.
  • Valid Overhead Crane Certification.
  • Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
