At Oberg Industries, we're seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team as a Precision Surface Grinder. This role is perfect for individuals with a passion for precision grinding and a strong background in surface grinding machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect parts before grinding to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Verify the dimensions of work pieces to match blueprints.
  • Inspect parts received from other departments for quality and accuracy.
  • Identify and correct inconsistencies in blueprints.
  • Set up and operate manual surface grinding equipment.
  • Design and implement methods for manufacturing complex parts.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment and system issues using test equipment and prior experience.
  • Contribute to process improvements and suggest ways to enhance operations.
  • Record time spent on each job for accurate tracking.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of a 2 1/2-year surface grinding apprentice program or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Effective communication skills through written, verbal, or other means.
  • U.S. citizenship or ability to comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

Physical Demands:

The employee will be required to work in a standing, sitting, or bent position for extended periods, lift up to 35 pounds, and perform tasks that require dexterity and physical stamina. The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment and perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
