About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Precision Grinder to join our team at Oberg Industries. As a Precision Grinder, you will play a crucial role in our production process, ensuring the highest quality parts are produced.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect parts before grinding to check for defects or irregularities.
  • Verify the dimensions of the work piece to match with the specifications.
  • Inspect parts received from other departments to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Inspect blueprints for inconsistencies and errors.
  • Set up and operate manual surface grinding equipment to produce high-quality parts.
  • Fixture and design methods of manufacturing complex parts.
  • Locate, diagnose, and correct problems in equipment and systems using test equipment and prior work experience.
  • Offer input on how to improve operations and increase efficiency.
  • Record time spent on each job for accurate tracking and reporting.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of a 2 1/2-year surface grinding apprentice program or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Effective communication skills through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
  • U.S. citizenship or ability to comply with U.S. export regulations.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work in a standing, sitting, or bent position for 10 hours/day and must be able to lift a maximum of 35 pounds with control and unassisted. The employee must be able to raise arms above shoulders and maintain dexterity for extended periods of time and also use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and be able to stoop or kneel for excessive periods of time.
