The Pharmacy Operations Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting pharmacists with various pharmacy functions at MedStar Pharmacy, including the preparation of prescriptions, customer interaction, sales processing, and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Aiding in the achievement of departmental objectives while complying with established policies and regulations.
- Organizing and managing prescription orders and documentation, confirming medication accuracy, and optimizing wait times for customers.
- Addressing customer service inquiries, including prescription refills, new orders, and resolving patient questions.
- Executing sales transactions, managing cash, checks, and credit card payments, while ensuring adherence to HIPAA standards.
- Overseeing inventory control, processing refills, and conducting data entry tasks under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Assisting with patient registration, collecting demographic details, and monitoring waiting areas for efficiency.
- Engaging in departmental meetings, committees, and community outreach initiatives.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Less than 1.5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail environment or equivalent training is required.
- Completion of pharmacy technician certification and state licensure within 180 days of employment is necessary.
- Proficient computer and mathematical skills, along with excellent communication and customer service capabilities.
