Job Description:

In accordance with state and federal regulations, the Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision. The role involves assisting the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If certified, the technician assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.

Customer Experience:

The Pharmacy Technician engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. The role involves resolving customer issues and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience. The technician models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.

Operations:

The Pharmacy Technician assists in the practice of pharmacy, under the supervision of the pharmacist, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. The role involves reviewing and complying with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct. The technician performs duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, and filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.

Responsibilities:

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collecting and handling cash as required. The role involves taking customers to the OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products. The technician handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians. The role involves processing manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner and performing other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

Requirements:

The Pharmacy Technician must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. The role requires a willingness to work flexible schedules, including evening and weekend hours. The technician must have good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications. Good computer skills are also preferred. The role involves maintaining knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and filing claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
