Job Summary

The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing and cooking all cafeteria and catering food, as well as therapeutic prescribed and regular diets. This includes preparing pureed, salt-free, mechanical soft, renal, and ADA-restricted diets. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and cooking, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare entrees, vegetables, starches, sauces, and soups according to standardized recipes and specifications.
  • Measure and mix ingredients, and cook food using various types of kitchen equipment.
  • Set up and service meals in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
  • Conduct food temperature checks and document results.
  • Plan and implement cooking processes to ensure food is ready at required times.
  • Ensure all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste, and appearance.
  • Inspect and maintain cooking equipment and utensils for cleanliness and safe operation.
  • Review forecast tallies and adjust production accordingly.
  • Verify food and supply items issued from the storeroom and requisition additional items as needed.
Requirements
  • Less than High School education required.
  • 1 year of related experience required.
  • Food Service/Food Handlers Card required upon hire.
