Position Overview
The Senior Inventory Operations Accountant plays a crucial role in driving initiatives focused on managing operational costs, overseeing inventory transactions, and supporting the goals of the Supply Chain Finance Department.
This position reports directly to the Inventory Accounting Manager and involves a diverse workload, balancing approximately 50% task-oriented responsibilities with 50% project-based engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and reconcile inventory across numerous warehouse locations, ensuring system alignment.
- Generate and distribute periodic Inventory Reports to various stakeholders, including Field Management.
- Collaborate with Operations and Field Management to swiftly identify and resolve inventory-related issues.
- Partner with IT and Operations to identify and correct systems integration discrepancies, promoting efficient operational processes.
- Standardize reporting packages in collaboration with IT and Operations to enhance consistency and efficiency.
- Conduct comprehensive reviews and analyses of inventory movements, promptly reporting any unusual variances to management.
- Oversee the field inventory certification program, ensuring compliance in partnership with Field Management.
- Provide insights into cost of goods and inventory activities to Senior Management and Finance, including monthly reports and analyses.
- Engage in cross-training with the Retail Operations Inventory Accountant to ensure comprehensive task coverage.
- Analyze other operational expenses to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare journal entries related to inventory and Supply Chain Finance activities during month-end close processes.
- Actively participate in cross-functional teams to identify technical challenges and efficiency opportunities, tracking resolution progress and implementing preventive measures as necessary.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure the accuracy of system implementations and upgrades related to inventory operations.
- Assist in conducting periodic audits to maintain accuracy and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with a solid foundation in financial principles.
- 2-3 years of direct experience in inventory management, demonstrating a specialized understanding of inventory control processes.
- Proficient in navigating multiple systems for efficient information retrieval and analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex functions and data analysis techniques.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, capable of managing complex data sets systematically.
- Excellent prioritization skills, adept at managing multiple tasks concurrently while ensuring timely completion.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective information exchange across stakeholders.
- Collaborative mindset, capable of working effectively within a team to achieve shared objectives.
- Experience in the Consumer Products industry is preferred, with familiarity in industry-specific practices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus, showcasing proficiency in utilizing ERP systems.
