Position Overview:

The Nutritional Care Technician plays a vital role within the nutrition support team. Operating under the supervision of registered dietitians, this position encompasses a variety of responsibilities including patient interviews, conducting anthropometric assessments, calculating dietary intakes, and providing education to patients and their families regarding specific dietary needs. Additionally, the technician will monitor meal quality and acceptance, prepare formula and breast milk fortification, and fulfill other assigned tasks. Documentation of patient care is maintained in the electronic medical record system.

Educational Requirements:

An Associate's degree or successful completion of a Dietetic Technician Program accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) is mandatory. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Licensure and Certification:

ServSafe certification is preferred.

Experience Required:

Recent experience in clinical food service management and nutritional care is essential, with a minimum of 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Understanding of food composition, menu development, and safe food handling practices.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate patients for potential nutritional risks, assist in the formulation of appropriate diets, and implement patient care plans.
  • Ability to calculate nutrient intake and adapt recipes accordingly.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with patients, families, healthcare providers, and to deliver nutritional guidance.
  • Communication skills to interpret age-specific responses during assessments and interactions.
Work Schedule:

PRN (8 hours per week)
