Job Title: Senior Systems Safety Engineer

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Senior Systems Safety Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our systems and products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and evaluate system safety and reliability analyses, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Hazard Analysis (HAZOP).
  • Evaluate safety products and requirements for compliance with internal and external standards, including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, and MIL-STD-882.
  • Implement and maintain system safety processes, identifying continuous improvement opportunities and training engineers on system safety risks.
  • Work with systems engineering and subsystem cognizant engineers to identify and verify compliance with system safety requirements.
  • Assist in generating metrics and reporting on program system safety statuses.
  • Foster a culture of system safety within the New Glenn program.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in integrated systems, with experience in system engineering principles and at least one area of analysis, design, or integrated testing.
  • Experience in fluids, thermal, propulsion, avionics, electrical hardware, telemetry/communications, structural, ground operations, or flight/ground autonomy.
  • Strategic and proactive thinking, with the ability to communicate effectively and work within set timelines.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working within large development programs.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • System development/integration experience, preferably with aerospace hardware.
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering/integration tools and methodologies.
  • 3+ years of system safety/reliability experience performing FHAs, FMEA/FMECAs, FTAs, CCAs, Reliability Predictions, RBDs.
  • Experience performing compliance assessments and tailoring FAA/Range Safety launch system requirements.
  • Experience with complex aerospace or launch vehicle systems.
  • Professional history of successful process ownership.
