Position Overview:
The Medical Staff Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the operations of Mercy Hospital's Medical Staff by managing the following responsibilities:
- Overseeing the review and approval processes for initial and reappointment applications, serving as a resource for the Medical Staff regarding bylaws, and preparing the Medical Staff Board Report for the Board of Trustees.
- Conducting research and developing departmental documentation while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of CMS, Oklahoma State Health Department, and Joint Commission standards and requirements.
- Collaborating with various hospital departments to assist in creating meeting agendas, recording minutes, analyzing clinical activity reports, and coordinating projects with hospital leadership.
- Executing duties and responsibilities in alignment with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Experience: Required experience in Medical Staff Services and credentialing; proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
- Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Proficient computer skills, effective written and verbal communication, strong project management capabilities including problem-solving and group facilitation, excellent customer service skills, meticulous attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks, and strong organizational skills. Familiarity with healthcare services and regulatory standards is advantageous.
- Equipment Used: General office equipment including computers and copiers.
- Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree preferred in Business Administration or a related health or management field; certification as a Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) is desirable.
