Job Summary

The Paint Tech I is a key member of our production team, responsible for preparing parts for painting by wiping, sanding, and inspecting them. This role requires attention to detail, ability to work independently, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Wipe, sand, and inspect all parts to be painted, ensuring they meet quality standards
  • Plug and mask all parts to prevent paint adhesion issues
  • Operate overhead hoists to hang parts for painting
  • Assist in training others in paint preparation techniques
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including blowing water and shot from cavities
Requirements
  • At least 1-2 years' experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Previous paint prep experience
  • Fundamental computer, math, and reading skills
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing environments
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years' experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably in a paint department
  • Proficient in safe operation of pneumatic tools
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent certification

Working Conditions

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, hearing, talking, visual, and typing. Occasional climbing, driving, bending, hearing, talking, visual, typing, fine dexterity, manual dexterity, lifting/carrying up to 35 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 35 lbs.

Occasional analysis/reasoning, communication/interpretation, math/mental computation, reading, sustained mental activity, and writing.

Occasional work alone, frequent task changes, tedious/exacting work, dust, temperature extremes, and loud noises.

Routine shift hours.

Occasional stress due to deadlines or workload because of intermittent or cyclical work pressures, or occasional exposure to distressed individuals within the immediate work environment.
