The Medical Lab Scientist 1 plays a crucial role in conducting routine laboratory tests that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. This position requires a foundational understanding of laboratory practices and the ability to handle basic issues effectively. The role involves:

  • Executing tests on specimens in a precise, organized, and prioritized manner, adhering to laboratory protocols to meet quality and time standards as mandated by regulatory agencies.
  • Collecting diverse specimens with care and sensitivity to patient needs.
  • Ensuring proper identification, collection, labeling, and storage of specimens.
  • Conducting instrument maintenance in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Providing mentorship and training to junior staff as needed.
  • Managing inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Maintaining a safe and hygienic work environment.
  • Adhering to departmental policies by keeping accurate records and documentation.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data input.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Experience: No prior experience required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: ASCP certification preferred.
