Laboratory Technical Supervisor

Job Overview:
This position requires candidates to have received both the flu vaccine and the complete COVID-19 vaccination series.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Under the guidance of the CLIA License holder, oversee and ensure the quality, quantity, and reliability of laboratory support staff's work. Facilitate communication between laboratory services, medical personnel, and patients. Evaluate laboratory needs and utilization, exploring various sources and methods to optimize efficiency. Ensure adherence to all Consortium-wide policies and external regulatory standards, including HIPAA, JC, CLIA, Client, and OSHA. Collaborate with the LIS coordinator to maintain the laboratory information system and update policy and procedure manuals.
2.In conjunction with the CLIA license holder, plan, implement, coordinate, review, and ensure compliance with all laboratory quality control, proficiency testing, quality assurance, safety, accreditation, and preventive maintenance initiatives. Troubleshoot and resolve any instrument or laboratory system failures.
3. Conduct specimen collection and laboratory testing across all clinical laboratory areas. Regularly review patient reports to confirm accuracy. 4. Act as a laboratory resource for all departments. 5. Collaborate with the laboratory director to monitor operational expenses and develop the laboratory budget, analyzing historical trends and data. 6. Serve as the lead technician, directing the work of others, and developing ongoing educational programs for laboratory and nursing staff involved in waived testing. Address concerns from both internal and external customers.Position Complexities:
Working under the direction of the CLIA license holder, ensure the laboratory meets all regulatory requirements established by CLIA, CMS, and Client. Follow directives from the CLIA license holder to maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Proficiency in all laboratory systems and tests is essential to cover during staffing shortages.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
Certification:
National laboratory certification - ASCP or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds and to stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods. This position may involve routine exposure to biohazards.

- In-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory and healthcare regulations.
- Advanced understanding of laboratory sciences.
- Familiarity with processes in other departments.
- Proficient phlebotomy and technical skills.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Analytical thinking and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Leadership skills to guide personnel.
