Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the CLIA License holder, oversees and guarantees the quality, volume, and dependability of tasks executed by laboratory support personnel.
Connects laboratory services with medical staff and patients. Evaluates laboratory requirements and usage, exploring resources and strategies to fulfill that usage. Ensures adherence to all Consortium-wide policies and external regulatory standards such as HIPAA, JC, CLIA, Client, and OSHA. Collaborates with the LIS coordinator to sustain the laboratory LIS system. Maintains laboratory policy and procedure documentation.2.
Following the direction of the CLIA license holder, organizes, executes, reviews, and ensures compliance with all laboratory quality control, proficiency testing, quality assurance, safety, accreditation, and preventive maintenance initiatives.
Diagnoses and resolves instrument and laboratory system malfunctions.3. Conducts specimen collection and laboratory testing across all clinical laboratory areas. Regularly reviews patient reports to ensure precision.
4. Acts as a laboratory resource for all departments.
5. Collaborates with the laboratory director to oversee operational expenses and formulate the laboratory budget. Analyzes historical trends and data.
6. Functions as the lead technician and directs the activities of others. Develops and monitors ongoing educational programs for laboratory and nursing staff performing waived testing. Addresses concerns from both internal and external clients.
Position Complexities: Working with and under the guidance of the CLIA license holder, ensures the laboratory complies with all regulatory standards set by CLIA, CMS, and Client.
Takes direction from and defers to the CLIA license holder to maintain compliance with regulatory benchmarks. Must possess proficiency in all laboratory systems and tests to cover during staffing shortages.Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related fields with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with at least 6 years of experience.
Certification:
National laboratory certification - ASCP or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of lifting over 50 pounds, standing, stooping, and bending for extended periods. The position may involve routine exposure to biohazards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced understanding of clinical laboratory and healthcare regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory sciences.
- Familiarity with other departmental processes.
- Proficient phlebotomy and technical skills.
- Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Advanced computer proficiency.
- Strong multitasking capabilities.
- Analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Leadership abilities to guide personnel.
