Dental Hygiene Program Director

Nature of Duties:

Under general supervision, the successful candidate will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction in credited technical/occupational courses, develop program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives, and evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. The individual will also request and maintain supplies and equipment, prepare budget requests, and maintain program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate. Additionally, the candidate will prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports, attend professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences, and ensure safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area. The successful candidate will also meet with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues, assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts, and teach dental hygiene clinic courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction in the theory and practical applications of dental hygiene
  • Establish, measure, and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous improvement and success
  • Requires strong computer skills, communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse student population
Qualifications:

The successful candidate must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Georgia State Licensed Dentist
  • BLS/CPR Certified
  • Equivalent of 3 years of full-time clinical experience in dentistry
  • Valid Driver's License

The preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Directly related teaching experience at the postsecondary level
  • Master's degree or higher
  • Equivalent of 5 or more years of full-time clinical experience in dental hygiene
