Zurich Insurance Company Ltd. is seeking a Legal Risk Management Specialist to join our Management Solutions team within one of our US Claims Offices.

The Legal Risk Management Specialist will operate under limited supervision, managing claims related to public company Directors and Officers (D&O), fiduciary responsibilities, and transactional risks that are of moderate to high complexity and value.


The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in reviewing legal documents, including complaints and discovery materials, as well as experience in arbitration demands, coverage assessments, exposure determination, and reserve setting.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough analyses of coverage, liability, and damages.
  • Engaging in mediation processes and negotiating settlements.
  • Drafting reservation of rights and coverage denial communications.
  • Informing underwriters of any claim-related issues.
  • Preparing case summary reports for significant reserve adjustments and trial preparations.
  • Overseeing the activities of defense counsel.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the legal field.
  • 5 or more years of legal practice experience specifically in the insurance sector.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary adjuster licenses.
  • Experience in insurance claims and familiarity with the legal and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven negotiation and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active member of the Bar.
  • Claims handling experience with at least 5 years in professional liability, D&O, and/or insurance coverage defense.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capability to work independently and collaborate across various teams.
  • Possession of insurance designations such as SCLA, CPCU, or AIC.
