Position Overview:

The Referral Authorizations Coordinator is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks related to the processing of referrals, patient registration, and verification of insurance benefits. This role involves scheduling patient appointments and facilitating communication with potential candidates and referral sources.

  • Engages professionally with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives.
  • Confirms insurance eligibility and benefits through automated systems, payer portals, or direct communication.
  • Keeps meticulous records of prior authorization and referral requests.
  • Handles incoming referrals from various sources, ensuring timely acquisition of prior authorizations and scheduling of patient appointments.
  • Reviews scheduled appointments to verify insurance eligibility and adherence to referral protocols.
  • Maintains an up-to-date understanding of healthcare plan requirements and network specifications.
  • Effectively triages incoming inquiries and requests documentation from healthcare providers or patients for service authorization.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in verifying insurance through online platforms.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in insurance referral coordination or medical office settings is required.
  • Familiarity with Next Gen and Epic systems is preferred.
  • Experience with various communication methods including phone, fax, and email.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capacity to thrive in a high-volume patient care environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.

Work Environment:

  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.
  • Initial training will occur in-person, with potential for a hybrid work model following the training period.
  • Training will take place across designated office locations, ensuring comprehensive onboarding before transitioning to remote work.
