Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Histology Technologist to join our team at Danbury Hospital. As a Histology Technologist, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue samples for examination by Pathologists, ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy in our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare tissue samples for examination by Pathologists, including embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining.
  • Perform special stains in accordance with quality standards.
  • Assist Pathology Residents and Pathologists as needed in Frozen Section & Gross Room.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, pathology residents, and pathologists to ensure the quality and integrity of our services.
  • Maintain a safe environment for yourself and coworkers, complying with all regulatory agencies and hospital safety programs.
  • Participate in Laboratory Performance Improvement Program.
  • Teach and train new employees, students, and pathology residents.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree
  • One year of experience in histology or a related field
  • Preferred: Histotechnologist certification or eligibility

Working Conditions:

  • Manual skills and motor coordination required
  • Some occupational risk
  • Medium to heavy physical effort, up to 35 lbs. force
  • Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
