Position Overview:

The Senior R&D Machinist plays a crucial role in supporting the Engineering team by operating machinery to create intricate production and prototype components that meet high-tolerance specifications with precision and efficiency.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time, onsite position requiring presence at our facility. The role involves collaboration with a diverse team of professionals, including engineers, designers, and technicians, to develop both simple and complex parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture high-quality, precision components and tooling from various materials.
  • Process materials from initial stock to finished products.
  • Set up and operate both manual and CNC machining equipment.
  • Design and create custom tools and fixtures as needed.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine machining processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to enhance product designs and manufacturing methods.
  • Maintain equipment and manage inventory and supplies effectively.
  • Provide training on machine operation and safety protocols.
  • Assist in various tasks, including test setups and equipment assembly.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues with machinery.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with manual and CNC machining operations.
  • Familiarity with CAM software for part programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret both imperial and metric measurements, including GD&T.
  • Experience with precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Knowledge of selecting and preparing appropriate tools and materials for machining.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication tools.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6-10 years of experience in a machining role.
  • Experience with measurement tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical training in machining.
  • Experience in a startup or innovative environment.
  • Familiarity with CNC machine maintenance.
  • Knowledge of multi-axis machining techniques.
  • Experience with modern CAM software.
