Job Summary

Join District Health Department No. 2 as a Public Health Nurse and contribute to promoting environmental and personal health through health promotion, disease detection, disease prevention, education, and regulation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in public health nurse service delivery in various programs, including Children's Special Health Care Services Case Management, Lead Poisoning Prevention, Maternal Infant Health, Immunizations, Family Planning, HIV Prevention, Syringe services, STI, WIC, and Communicable Disease surveillance and prevention.
  • Operate health clinics and conduct home visitations, administering immunizations and injectable medications, providing family planning information, and performing blood pressure screenings.
  • Teach clients and families about nutrition, healthcare, medication, pregnancy, communicable diseases, and other subjects as needed.
  • Maintain patient records per protocol and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Prepare program activity reports and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Possession of RN License or bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Extensive experience in providing services to children ages 0-5 and their parents.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse communities and families and be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
  • Clinical experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services necessary.
  • Must be flexible and able to manage a variety of settings and programs that quickly change.
Working Conditions

A background check is required initially and may be conducted periodically for an individual hired, transferred, reclassified, promoted, or currently working in this job. Continued employment in this job is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
