Job Summary

Canvas Health is seeking a Certified Family Peer Specialist to provide support services to clients 5-18 years old in the Mental Health Crisis Services. The ideal candidate will have lived experience with a primary diagnosis of a mental illness, raised or be raising a child with a mental illness, and have current or former use of mental health services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide family peer support services to clients 5-18 years old in the Mental Health Crisis Services
  • Identify and create goals with clients, developing recovery plans that utilize their skills, strengths, supports, and resources
  • Assist clients in breaking down barriers to community resources and encourage involvement in community activities that support their goals and interests
  • Support crisis calls and provide in-home family peer supports
Requirements
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) or higher
  • Certified or plans to be certified by start date within Minnesota as a Family Peer Specialist
  • Lived experience with a primary diagnosis of a mental illness
  • Raised or raising a child with a mental illness
  • Current or former user of mental health services
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work effectively on a team
  • Previous experience as a certified peer specialist
  • Experience working with and/or delivering services to diverse populations
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records system
